we are so lucky to have six amazing women standing up for us at our wedding. and this past weekend, most of us (in addition to both moms) went out for a day of dress shopping. bdspig took a train four hours each way from nyc to be with us. bff knitty and cmphil both took one of their few weekend days to spend with their respective children to come shopping. and mkbogie and sbwhisky used up an entire day that could have been spent studying in order to get dresses. i am so thankful that they were each there to make the day special and fun. (mlb’s sister was sadly missed, but we are happy to get to see her soon anyway!)

we went to three stores on saturday and also out to lunch. everyone was in surprisingly good spirits, especially considering the weather was amazing and it was a shame to be inside, and also considering many of these girls, like myself, are not so enthusiastic about trying on clothes, especially dresses. the first store had a huge selection and everyone tried on multiple dresses. the second store unfortunately didn’t have too much of a selection. and by the third store, everyone had already made up their minds.

i had told everyone they should get whatever dress they feel comfortable in, as long as they stick to the same color. and, most surprisingly, they all loved (and looked fabulous in) the same dress! and i was able to talk the store clerk into giving us a more than 20% discount.

thus making this a rather boring account of the day. there was no hair pulling, crying, or silent treatments. of course, i never expected that from these women. sometimes i forget that i don’t live in one of those wedding shows on tlc – as much as that drama is fun to watch, i was much happier (i’m sure we all were) with everyone being so agreeable, really liking each other, and choosing a dress they all liked. my mother found a beautiful dress a few days later, mlb’s sister was fitted yesterday for hers, mlb’s mom is on the hunt, and bff knitty and i are scouting out something special for her to wear as the matron of honor. yet another successful day of wedding planning under our belts as we approach the seven month mark. i know we’re all hoping for continuing smooth sailing as the big day gets closer.
we are so good-looking, it’s amazing.
why weren’t the boys invited? I am sure some of them would have looked wonderful in dresses as well…
It was a fun day and I can hardly wait to find my dress to complement all of yours. Thanks for including me!
Mom has ordered mine!
